It would be my guess, that you wonder from time to time what the heck reporters are thinking. Well, in my experience, the answer to that varies. You see, reporters are just people. And they’re motivated by the same things people are motivated by. These motivations include money, status, pride, advancement, accomplishment, challenge, duty, loyalty, respect, service, etc… Some reporters are just trying to get to the top of the heap, and others are honestly trying to do their part to make the community they live in a better place.
While there are plenty of bad apples (just like in every other profession), reporters are usually people who enjoy meeting other people and learning about how things work. Trust me, this is good news. It means you can develop relationships with reporters. You can learn how to work with them and even how they can work with you. You can even, ahem…make friends with them. Give it a shot.
